A day in the life: Claire Finance Manager
Hi, I'm Claire and I work as a Finance Manager at heyData. In this role, I oversee both our day-to-day financial operations and medium-term financial planning. This includes everything from managing invoices to helping prepare our monthly and annual financial reports.

Your Journey
What inspired you to join heyData, and how has your role evolved since you started?
I started at heyData as a working student while studying economics. I remember really enjoying my first interview, it felt relaxed, more like chatting with a friend. That good first impression made me want to join the team.
Since then, I’ve stuck around. After graduating, I moved into a Finance Assistant role and eventually became the Finance Manager. It’s been a great learning experience, and I’ve grown a lot along the way.
A Day in Your Life
What would surprise us most about your job if we followed you around for a day?
What would probably surprise you most is how often I use the calculator on my phone. Fancy tools are useful too, but sometimes a quick calculation on my phone just does the trick.
Team Vibes
How do you stay connected with your team, especially in a hybrid or remote setup?
I stay connected with my team through coffee chats on Google Meet, and when someone’s in town, we meet up after work to catch up. I’m also friends with some of them on Instagram, so I like keeping up with their instagram stories now and then.
Challenges & Wins
What’s the most rewarding project you’ve worked on at heyData? How did it challenge you, and what made it particularly fulfilling?
I think the most rewarding project was when we transitioned from our old invoicing service to the one we use now. It was a bit of a mess at first, but my team and I worked hard to sort things out and make the switch a success.
Mental Breaks
When you need to clear your mind, how do you recharge during the workday?
I live right next to the waters, more like a small river. I listen to my favorite artist and walk along the river, observing people. If I need a social recharge, I go out with friends for a drink in the city.
Tech Tools You Swear By
I rely on Spendesk a lot to pay invoices and gather information for monthly reporting. It keeps all the invoices in one place and allows me to handle different tasks within a single tool.

What are you most excited about in your future at heyData?
I'm excited to take on diverse tasks at heyData. My responsibilities have grown over time, and I'm looking forward to embracing new challenges and opportunities for growth.
